030 - Lucky Hen

This is Lucky, aptly named as she's the last one left of 6 hens. She was having a tat around in the sun today, and I couldn't resist capturing her lovely golden colour on camera.

We're having friends over for dinner tomorrow so a lot of tonight was spent preparing. And it's the first time we've both been in the kitchen without Paul banning me entirely after 30 seconds....a breakthrough! ;) Might be something to do with these though.....

This is Another Place by Antony Gormley - the guy that thought up the Angel of the North - on Crosby beach. I tried to get a few pictures that just weren't very inspiring, and then Paul suggested getting on the deck and looking up....the first rule of photography and he didn't even know it...he's so clever!

My new car stereo arrived today, courtesy of my lovely man. Unfortunately, there's a bit missing which means I'm still tuneless in the car, but that's fine...all the more time to sing to myself :)

It stopped raining for about half a second, and the sun came out, so I decided to play with Steve in the garden (he had to go to the vets today so needed some fuss!). My photo of the day came from my own back yard!

No actions?!

The lovely Emma Case pointed me in the direction of some actions you can download for Elements, so I thought I would give a couple a go this evening. However, not being of great technical mind, and not knowing a lot about Elements, it was always going to be a little 'close your eyes and hope for the best'...I followed the instructions to the letter. But I can't see my actions. Rubbish.
Anyway, that basically means you get to see my 018 nekked as a jaybird. Maybe next time....when I can be bothered to find out where I've gone wrong :)

017 - lazy sunday

Today has been rather slow. We joined some friends for a 30th Birthday celebration last night, and probably drank more wine than necessary. Today, therefore, has been a bit lazy...mainly reading hand-me-down magazines and having naps :)

I tried panning today, in our local park, with some local 'yoots' as my subject. Today was my first attempt so I'm sure I'll get the hang of it properly. I wasn't too displeased at my first attempt though :)

014 - Love

I haven't spend much time with my boy of late, since we've both been really busy. We went on a little walk (camera in tow) this evening and I just couldn't get any good shots. For once, it doesn't matter. What matters is that we had an hour to ourselves, and it was lovely. Love you Paul x

On a very uninspiring wander around Birmingham today, I happened across these pair of old English favourites. They are so much a part of the scenery that I never really noticed they were 'odd' before, but having my camera with me makes me see things differently. Where else can you find such retro phone boxes nowadays?? It's a shame that we think modernisation is the way forward....I heart vintage :)

This was how I spent my Sunday morning...absolute bliss! It's a second hand bookshop nearby my Mum's, which is set in an old train station. Couple this setting with a great cuppa and an even better bacon sarnie, and you can see why I didn't want to leave!

We finally made it up to Northumberland after a very busy day, and a very long drive. Time for a curry ....and a glass of wine!

007 - Snail Male

They say Snails have both male and female genitalia. Interesting....apparently. Anyway, I had my photo of the day planned out in my head and was en route to my friends to help me take it (I needed an extra pair of hands to hold things!) when this little creature crossed my path. I couldn't resist!

I've had such a busy week, I'm taking a leaf out of our friend's book and gonna take it a little slower this weekend....I'm off to Northumberland for some R&R. Hope my Mum has internet - or I won't be happy! Hopefully see you tomorrow :)

I've been lacking somewhat in inspiration today, but if there's one thing that I like (a lot) it's period features in a pub! This is the newly refurbished Rose Villa Tavern, and having lived in the Jewellery Quarter for a few years I can whole heartedly say it's a very welcome addition to the areas fantastic watering holes....if only I had my slippers.... :)

Since I was exceptionally late in posting my 1st photo of the 366 project, I thought I would try and make it up to you by posting an early 2nd photo! It's my first to incorporate a theme.

So, this is for Lucy, who suggested the theme Shadows yesterday whilst she was on her way to Iceland to do a five-day trekathon for British Heart Foundation (go girl!).
